“The Daily Show” correspondent Jordan Klepper on Tuesday shredded President Donald Trump for reportedly considering sending Vice President JD Vance to negotiate with Iranians amid Israel’s war with the country.
“You know, I think this is fantastic. JD Vance is a great choice to negotiate. The Iranians will agree to anything to get him the fuck out of there,” Klepper quipped.
The sign of negotiations progressing between the U.S. and Iran has since conflicted with Trump’s head-spinning posts on social media as he cryptically called for “everyone” in Tehran to “immediately evacuate” on Monday night.
“You know what, I could use some additional explanation,” Klepper joked.
The comedian later turned to MAGA infighting over Trump’s stances on the deadly conflict before playing clips of both former Fox News host Tucker Carlson and Rep. Marjorie Taylor-Greene (R-Ga.) opposing U.S. involvement in the war, a move that the president seems to have warmed up to.
Taylor-Greene, in remarks on the far-right One America News Network, dismissed the notion that America needs to engage in foreign wars “in order for us to survive,” adding that people just “want to have fun” in the country.
Klepper said he couldn’t believe that he was agreeing with the conspiracy theorist before arguing that he’s “pretty sure” Americans know how to have fun “regardless of international conflicts.”
“I’ve never gotten a text saying, ’Hey bro. Territorial dispute in the South China Sea. Barbecue’s canceled,” he quipped.
